"Plant Your Shade" Campaign

The spring Plant Your Shade Campaign was organized with the aim of greening urban areas that are tree impoverished due to hyperurbanization. More than 2,500 white ash seedlings were distributed to citizens at three locations in the city. The citizens were also given instructions for planting, as well as a board for entering their name, date of planting and the partner who provided the seedling. Citizens who took over the seedlings could plant white ash only in their yard or on their property. Children planted "their tree" that would grow together with them. This also nurtures and builds a relationship and love for nature. Under the Green City program, municipalities applied for white ash seedlings. The goal is to build a Green Wall of a natural barrier between the industrial zone and the municipality. Municipalities also g?t independent automatic air quality stations. Ash trees were donated by socially responsible companies and partners who responded to the invitation to participate in the action Plant Your Shade Activity initiated by Green Development Center from Sremska Mitrovica, which has been marking in this way the World Cleaning Day in Serbia for five years now. https://youtu.be/FF-5qrzb62A
